Latest Bags

I completed my bag project with two more bags.

Using the pattern and instruction in the books, and I put decorative ribbon embroidery on one side.

The first one is made of japanese linen, with cotton for the strap. And I also put lace to beautify it. I do not really know what exactly is the name of the flower. Daisy was on my mind initially. But I dont have enough length of ribbon for daisy (i was thinking of purplish hand-dyed of 0.5cm ribbon, which i only have about half a meter), so I used this silk ribbon, which is also hand-dyed, but they don't end up like daisies for me... so, I picked a bigger ribbon (3/4") for the leaves. More like geranium leaves.
But, most important is, they still look pretty.

For the shooting, I put a Guitar magazine and guitar lesson notebook, so that they coulc come along with the guitar hanging at the back.
(and, actually, the magazine and the book can go deeper in the bag, but I purposely put a few books below as the base so that the bottom of the bag looks smoother).

Another bag is made of linen, with Dutch Hyacinth as ribbon embroidery decoration.

Oh! I only see the little piece of thread after I export the photo into my pc!

Working with the Bag Strap

The haze is back. Worsen it began to.
Some people are having fun with the haze by posting their picture wearing the face mask, and some are posting funny edited pictures related to the haze. Some old jokes are also retold by adapting to this serious issue.

It almost a yearly activity of open burning in our neighboring country and this point of time also that the wind is blowing north bringing particles and skyrocketed the API. In these days, you can stand in the middle of your lawn stepping on your diffused shadow, and look up high and see the red round sun just a few degree away from above your head. The sun ray penetration could not get higher than 60% ( I assumed).

The air is not healthy at all. Our sight is limited to 150 feet. Even in the house the ambiance is different.

I spend the day making bag strap from fabric bias. I made them in odd sizes, so I cannot use my bias-maker. I made a template using hard paper, instead.

I made five bag straps. One bag only needs around 160cm of bias. I purposely make it extensively longer and keep it for future project.

Wait for my other post for the usage of the bias!..

Mathematics is HARD, Mathematics is an ART

In mathematics, LINE is a geometric figure formed by a point moving along a fixed direction and the reverse direction.

One line makes a separator
Two lines make a corner
Three lines make a triangle
Four lines make a square
Five lines make a star
Seventy-eight intersected lines of colourful threads make a geometric design that I have no idea as for now what will that piece of cloth turns into.

For lines that go through the heart, I used salmon, pink, burgundy, lilac, mauve, red and pale yellow.

While in contrast, a little contrast, I use few shades of teal.
I started with the inner heart first, then the outer lines, so that the green can overstitch the reddish.

After completing this, I think that making the line bolder would create more dramatic end, and I regret choosing the decorative stitch to wrap up the circle. Dont you think it is a disaster? I am going to spend another night undoing the stitches.

In regards of the competition amongst friends, this idea came to my mind. Stitching lines to create design. And this design is proudly called : "Hcolpccasoac".
Unpronouncable? It is abbreviated from "Heart composed of lines, partial concentric circles, and sections of a cardioid".
Here is where I got the design from. PLEASE PREPARE YOUR COMPASS AND PROTRACTOR!! Me? I just use printer :P

I don't hate roses anymore

It started with “I hate rose! I hate rose!”. the non-stop self cursing every time I saw that most popular, cliché, complicated spiral structure, overrated yet beautiful and perfect flower. Due to common features we have, I believe wild flowers symbolizes me most.

One day I met a very special person who loves rose as much as I hate it. She made roses out of soap, ceramics, paint them on ceramics plate, tea set, sink and everything imaginable , embroidered a rose from a ribbon, and produce very stunning watercolor paintings of roses. She is as beautiful as the rose, outside and inside.

She drives a Mercedes but she is so humble in so many ways. She spoke about good things, told wise advices, and she is among a few peoples I know with prayers always answered. During one of the early classes, she could not find her misplaced car key. She recite a du’a and god led her way to the key. I told her about my poor relationship with someone important to me, and on the very next moment I met that important person, things are completely changed. Since then, I turned myself from just a ‘pretty good’ listener to a silent prayer when lots of people come to me with problems to tell.

She continues to capture many hearts with her roses, I continue my day giving up anything about roses. Last Saturday, looking at the mess in my tiny treasure cupboard, I started to remember the days I learnt how to dye the plain white dull rolls of ribbon to finally create a masterpiece on canvas. I remember the lesson, but I remember more of the hope. When teachers teach for money, they give you lesson. When teachers teach you for who they want you to become, they give you future.

I spent the whole weekend working with the ribbons and flip some pages of book of handmade bags how-to. I started my first rose and it came out beautiful enough for me. I continue another and completed 8 roses just to realized that it was 3.30am. The next morning I returned to my messy den and started to think. I never embroider a rose that looks like a rose before, not even close to dead rose!. My teacher must be praying for this. Few days before, I put a comment in facebook on how lousy I am when it comes to roses. My teacher read that and I believe she du’a for the otherwise. I am now proud to show you my very first presentation of roses. Thank you teacher for the du’a you said, and even if you did not, I still thank you for everything.

This is my teacher, Puan Norehan Kasim. She just launched her first beauty product and in preparation to Croatia representing the country for ceramic painting exhibition. Wish her the very best of luck!
